about us
From the moment I first laid eyes on the beautiful tri-colour markings and prominent stature of the Bernese Mountain Dog (BMD), it was love at first sight. When I was ready and able I finally bought my own BMD. This developed into a dream to breed these amazing dogs with love and genuine commitment to bettering the breed. At Freiberners, our number one priority is ensuring that our dogs are happy, healthy, even-tempered, and properly cared for. We only allow dogs into our breeding program that are CKC registered, with hip, elbow, heart and eye clearances, and who are clear of Von Willebrands and DM diseases. All of our dogs are raised inside of our home, as they are a part of our family! We’ve enjoyed sharing our passion for the BMD with our two young daughters (7 and 5) who love helping to care for our pups. We are located just outside of Guelph ON, Canada.
When I purchased my first BMD puppy, the process was quite overwhelming. What was I looking for? How did I know I could trust the breeder? Were they following ethical breeding practices? So many questions, and so few answers. This experience made it important to me to be fully transparent, and support our puppy parents through all stages of the process. By focusing on an education first approach, it is our goal to make sure everyone feels comfortable and confident on their new puppy journey. The support and communication does not end when you take your puppy home. We encourage new owners to stay connected to us and other clients through our Facebook and Instagram handles. We are also happy to answer any questions new puppy parents may have. We’ve been there ourselves, and love to help!

MICHAUDVILLE HILDE is the largest female we’ve had in our program, currently at 130lbs. She has the most calm and gentle temperament. She is happy just to sit on your feet and get pets all day long. Just watch out for her bear paw when she doesn’t want you to stop! Thank you to Josee for trusting us with one of her beautiful pups.

MICHAUDVILLE WILHELMINA is a super affectionate and sweet girl. She just wants to be beside you at all times! She is a smaller girl weighing 90lbs, however her thick build makes he weigh more than she looks. She is the same size as our Gerty girl. Our puppies
All of our puppies are raised in our home. Once they are 5 weeks of age, they are introduced to our indoor/outdoor run to get them started on potty training. Our pups stay with us until they are at least 8 weeks old - no exceptions!
Each puppy will go home with CKC registration papers and are sold on a non breeding contract. Puppies are sold with a 2 year health guarantee for hereditary/congenital defects. Our puppies come vet checked, microchiped, vaccinated and are dewormed several times. On pick up day, you will also recieve a 'Berner bag' which includes tips for training and caring for your new pup, a toy that was introduced to the puppy before going home to help with the transition, and food. We are always available to help at any time with your puppy and encourage you to keep in touch with us and other clients of ours!

If we do not have a litter available at the time, we would be more than happy to add you to our waiting list with an approved application and a deposit or recommend another reputable kennel. We encourage you to thoroughly research this wonderful breed before deciding to purchase. Owning a new pup is a large responsibility so you'll want to make sure you're ready for it - but don't worry, we are here every step of the way!
